Meet then Tweet

Drawing on Wednesday’s post-EcoBuild “Tweet-up”, I wrote yesterday about how Twitter could be used to ‘Tweet and meet‘: to organise social gatherings at which you could network with existing friends and with new people who could potentially be added to your followers.

It’s worth adding that the process also works the other way round. You can ‘Meet then Tweet‘. As my friend Mel Starrs (who blogs at Elemental) tweeted yesterday: “Best thing about Ecobuild has been finding lots of new folks to follow on Twitter.”

Twitter then becomes a way of maintaining a ‘light touch’ contact with those new people, and perhaps a bit less intrusive than LinkedIn, Plaxo or similar network tools.
