Will Mann heads new AEC forum

Following the November demise of Contract Journal (post), various former CJ journalists are popping up in new roles, with Will Mann the latest to surface.

According to an email that landed in my inbox this morning, Will is now the online editor of The Construction Index search engine website. And after my post on Friday about the old CJ forums, it was a timely email to members of the CJ forum to say that his responsibilities also include moderation of the The Construction Index forum.

I saw a post on the CJ forum yesterday urging people to look at this new forum, and some of the more frequent posters already appear to have made the switch. Whether it will grow at the same pace as the CJ group is difficult to say; the new venture doesn’t have the brand backing of a well-known industry magazine. However, some of the original community members are obviously a loyal clan, and if the new forum can also build up an awareness through use of other Web 2.0 media like Twitter then it may eventually outstrip the scale of the old CJ community (today: 669 users – thought this is still less than half the size of the 1600+ users currently registered on Building‘s forum).
